Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actor, singer and music producer. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and encountered a number of racial slurs that led her to feel unwelcome. It was in her ninth year that she started to feel more confident after receiving a rousing ovation in an audition. Not only did she gain confidence through the audition, but she also changed career goals. The 22-year-old earned an education from the Julliard School in New York. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot she portrayed the role of Lady of The Lake which won the Tony Award as well as high praise from critics. The recognition grew even more when she appeared in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. Alongside being an acclaimed singer she has released two solo albums and an extended piece. In addition, she has spoken out in support of LGBT concerns.
